The US Army will wear Israeli "windbreakers"

The command of the US Army acquires the Israeli system of active tank defense Trophy for several armored units.
This system (called in Hebrew "meil Ruach", in English - "windbreaker"), was developed by the defense concern RAFAEL together with ELTA. It is designed to protect armored vehicles, mainly tanks, from anti-tank missiles, anti-tank grenades and other weapons designed to attack armored vehicles.
It is reported that several such systems will be installed on tanks "Abrams" M1A2. The Pentagon said that the need to equip armored vehicles with such systems is especially acute recently, when US tanks and armored personnel carriers are constantly attacked in operations outside the United States.
The Trophy system (in the literal translation - "windbreaker") knows how to determine the threat in a fraction of seconds and destroy it on approach to the target.
The system was first introduced in March 2005 at the 2nd international exhibition on low-intensity conflicts in Tel Aviv. The Israeli "windbreaker" received baptism of fire in March 2011, when it destroyed a missile of a hand-held anti-tank grenade launcher, released from the Gaza Strip on the Merkava-4 tank.
About how many Trophy systems the US Army intends to purchase, so far it has not been reported.
