Sources said that the attempt to supply arms was stopped after the US seized the vessel and warned Cairo through diplomatic channels. As the newspaper notes, Washington forced Cairo to take action in connection with this report.
The media noted that the incident complicated the relationship between Cairo and Washington and caused the US refusal to provide Egypt with economic assistance of $ 95.5 million, as well as to provide a loan of $ 195 million.
