Israelis who survived the Holocaust will not turn off electricity for the debts of the Electric Company (Hevrat Hashmal).
These are the new rules published by the Electricity Authority. In addition, according to the new rules, electricity will not be turned off for people who have home buttons for an urgent call of an ambulance.
According to Asaf Eilat, the chairman of the Electricity Authority, electricity is a matter of prime necessity, and the general disconnection of electricity from debtors is not a solution to the problem. "We need to collect debts in accordance with the capabilities of debtors," said Asaf Eilat.
In other words, debtors will be given the opportunity to pay in installments.
