Jews of Ulyanovsk collect funds for the construction of a community center

The Jewish community in Ulyanovsk plans to erect a cultural center and a synagogue by 2018.
The project will require about 30 million rubles. This month, the collection of funds for construction.
In Ulyanovsk, there is a Sunday school for Jewish children, where they are happy to study and study the traditions of their people. Children themselves are aware of the plans of the adult generation and are eagerly awaiting their implementation.
According to the chairman of the Ulyanovsk Jewish autonomy, Igor Dabakarov, local Jews began to show interest in the roots. The process of returning to the sources has been started. And interest is observed among different generations.
Rabbi Yosef Marozof regrets that in Ulyanovsk, which is included in 20 large cities of Russia and where the Jewish community is very active, there is no own synagogue.
Alksander Kozinets is a veteran of the Great Patriotic War and a participant in the Battle of Stalingrad is also a member of the community. He wants to pray, but so that no one disturbs or embarrass anyone. This requires a certain place, namely a synagogue. There, Jewish youth can come and join the spiritual values of their people.
In Ulyanovsk-Simbirsk there were three synagogues, none of which survived. Jews always met together to solve common problems. The place where representatives of the ancient nation can meet with each other is a historical necessity.
To this end, it is planned to build a synagogue and a culture center, which will include a mikvah, a Sunday school, a charitable canteen, an interactive museum, a medical center, a celebration hall, a recording studio and a gym.
With the advent of the center, everything that is now in the Jewish community will gain a better quality and scope, said Rabbi Yosev Marozof.
