The Israeli government is launching a new plan to "protect Jerusalem in the international arena."
Such a statement was made on Monday, October 16, by the Minister of Ecology and Affairs of Jerusalem, Zeev Elkin.
Elkin also recalled the recent resolutions adopted by UNESCO, which ignored the connection of the Jewish people with the city and added that he was ready to prepare, finance and lead the project to protect Jerusalem from distorting historical facts.
"This project will include visits to Jerusalem by influential people from different countries, representatives of different cultures and peoples, and they will be shown and told about the past and the present of the city.Everyone who will ever find himself on the streets of Old Jerusalem will not be able to doubt the connection of this place with Jewry" , - said the politician.
According to Elkin, the project will also establish a permanent international prize "Defender of Jerusalem", which will be awarded to people who have made a unique contribution to the struggle for the international status of Jerusalem and against the distortion of historical facts.
"Recent UNESCO resolutions are politically motivated attempts to portray the city as a sacred place solely for Islam and the Arab nation," the minister added.
