Protesters clash with police outside Ukraine's parliament

Protesters clashed with police outside Ukraine's federal parliament on Tuesday at an anti-corruption rally attended by thousands of demonstrators.

That Ukraine's Interior Ministry released a photo of an incapacitated officer with a bloody nose lying on the ground and being helped by paramedics. State media reported that an elderly man suffered a severe head injury.

Protesters demanded the establishment of a court tasked solely with tackling corruption and called for legislators to be stripped of immunity from prosecution.

The rally was attended by Georgia's former president Mikheil Saakashvili, who has condemned Ukraine's leadership, saying it perpetuates entrenched corruption.

Police estimated that there were about 4,500 protesters at the rally, state news agency Ukrinform reported. Many protesters chanted "Misha," a diminutive of Saakashvili's first name, in a show of support for his anti-corruption efforts.
