Winter Knesset Session Opens in Jerusalem

Today in Israel, the Knesset's winter session has solemnly opened. The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Reuven Rivlin.
In the event that the Knesset is not dissolved early, the session will last until the end of March 2018.
Very many, both in the coalition and in the opposition, are convinced that the current session of the parliament will be the last, and after it early elections will be announced.
For five months, the Knesset will have to discuss a large number of bills that cause disagreements, and sometimes conflicts within the coalition. Each such conflict can be the reason for the final collapse of the coalition.
During the winter session of the Knesset, it is also expected to resolve the issue of the establishment of the Broadcasting Corporation. At the moment, Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon categorically objects to the bill put forward by the head of the coalition David Bitan, according to which the creation of a new corporation will be canceled, and the Gosteleradio Office will continue its work.
Against the cancellation of the creation of the corporation are also the Minister of Education Naftali Bennet and the Minister of Homeland Security Gilad Erdan, who was the initiator of its creation.
During the winter session of the Knesset, the law on the activities of non-party organizations in the course of election campaigns ("V-15 law"), the law regulating the activity of trading institutions on Saturdays ("hok a-shabat") is also expected to be approved.
The bill on the abolition of the automatic transfer of children under the age of six to the mother in case of parents' divorce ("hezkat gil arakh") will also continue.
