Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu received a delegation of the Russian Jewish Congress on October 25, which included the president of the RJC Yuri Kanner and the vice-presidents Herman Zakharyaev, Jan Piskunov and Grigory Roitberg.

During the conversation, Yuri Kanner thanked the prime minister for his participation in the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the restoration of diplomatic relations in Moscow and expressed the hope that Netanyahu will be able to visit the Russian capital during the celebration of the 70th anniversary of Israel in May of next year.
The topic of the introduction of the 26th Iyar, the Day of Salvation and Liberation, was also touched upon in the Jewish calendar. The Prime Minister said that he fervently supports this initiative and believes that this day is worthy to be immortalized by the Jewish people along with Hanukkah and Purim.
