Netanyahu: the US will study the law on "Greater Jerusalem"

"We are in touch with the Americans. Just as we worked with them in cooperation so far, we should communicate with them and coordinate the actions. We are acting to promote and develop settlements, and not because of extraneous interests, "Binyamin Netanyuygu said at about noon today, commenting on the temporary abolition of the vote on the bill on Greater Jerusalem.

According to the office of the head of government, Netanyahu noted that "the Americans turned to us and asked for time to understand what is the meaning of the law (on Greater Jerusalem)."

"Cursor" wrote that during the day there was conflicting information about the fate of the Law.

"From my point of view, and from the point of view of Knesset member Joab Kish, the bill on Greater Jerusalem should be put to vote today by the interministerial legislative commission, as it was planned.

I am not familiar with another decision on the issue of voting, and I intend to discuss this with the Prime Minister. The provision of the Jewish majority in Jerusalem is a historic task, and we should all direct our joint efforts to the adoption and implementation of the bill, "Minister Yisrael Katz said today.

Recall that the law was introduced on behalf of the Knesset Member Jovan Kish ("Likud"). As you know, Israeli law allows the minister to submit bills only in the sphere of the department headed by him.

The law will extend Israeli jurisdiction to the settlements of Greater Jerusalem: Maale Adumim, Givat Zeev, Beitar-Ilit, Efrat, Gush Etzion settlements, with a total population of about 150,000 Israeli citizens. They will be annexed to the capital, as part of Greater Jerusalem under Israeli sovereignty.

However, the law on Greater Jerusalem was lifted today after the US ambassador to Israel, David Friedman, conveyed Washington's opinion about the need to harmonize the law with the White House.
